Marks go in one subject at a time on Offline Exam Result, and you can save as you go — a part-filled sheet is the normal case, not an error. Publishing is a separate, one-way step that only a class teacher can take.

How do I enter marks?

  1. Open Offline Exam Result — from a Grade card on Home, from a Grading exam card, or from Manage → Exam Result.
  2. Three pills sit under the header: Class, Exam and Subject. Arriving from a Grade card, the class, the exam and its first subject are already picked. The Exam picker lists only completed, unpublished exams.
  3. Above the list, a chip reads Total marks : n for the chosen subject, and a second reads Graded: {graded} / {total} — amber until every subject is done, green after.
  4. Type the mark into the numeric box on each student's card, and optionally a note in Feedback (optional). A row already saved carries a green tick and arrives pre-filled.
  5. Tap Submit Result. The snackbar reads Saved marks for {count} students, counting only the rows you filled.

How do I publish the result?

Finish every subject until the Graded chip is green. Publish Exam, beside Submit Result, then turns solid. Tap it; the sheet Publish exam? warns Students and guardians will be notified. This cannot be undone. Tap Confirm publish. The snackbar reads Exam published successfully and the screen is replaced by the read-only results.

Rules and gotchas

  • Empty boxes are skipped, not rejected. Submitting with nothing filled shows Enter marks for at least one student.
  • One bad value stops the whole save: a mark above the subject total gives You can not add more Marks then the Total, and a non-numeric value gives Please Add Marks to All Students, which really means "this value is not a number".
  • There is no absent or AB option. An ungraded student is an empty box, indistinguishable from one not yet marked.
  • Changing a pill with unsaved edits raises Unsaved changes with Cancel and a red Discard.
  • Publishing is restricted to the class teacher of the exam's class: anyone else gets You can only publish exams for your own classes.
  • There is no unpublish. After publishing, the exam's card opens the results instead of grading.
  • Saving marks notifies nobody. Only publishing does.
