Pair a Circin Canvas board from Circin Maestro
Scan the QR code on the classroom board with your phone to sign the board in as you — and pair from the class card so it opens on the right class.
Updated
Circin Maestro is the key to the classroom board. You scan the QR code the board is showing and it signs in as you — no password is typed on the glass, and the scan itself is the approval.
How do I pair the board?
- On Home, look at the Today's Timetable card. While a class is in progress the card is labelled NOW and carries a Pair a board button — tap that.
- Between classes the card reads Up next and has no button. Use the cast icon in the Home top bar instead.
- The Pair a board screen opens with the camera live and the hint Point the camera at the QR on the whiteboard.
- Point the phone at the QR code on the board. There is no confirm step.
- A tick and Board signed in appear, with a Back button. The board is now signed in as you.
Rules and gotchas
- The two entry points are not equivalent. Pair a board on the NOW card passes the class section, subject and class name through, so the board opens already scoped. The cast icon passes only your school code, and the board then asks you to pick a subject.
- A failed scan restarts the camera and turns the hint red: Couldn't pair the board. Please try again.
- Holding the phone steady cannot pair twice — repeated frames of the same code are ignored.
- Photographing the QR gains nobody anything: the request always goes to Circin's own backend, never to an address inside the code.
- On iPhone and iPad the camera permission prompt currently reads "We need access to the camera to upload photos", which is the wrong wording for this screen. Allowing it is what pairing needs.
- A code that is not a Circin Canvas pairing code does nothing at all, with no error.
